Journalist Barış Pehlivan announced that a new amnesty regulation is on the government's agenda.
Stating that according to official declarations, there is no room left in prisons for 92 thousand 516 people, Pehlivan said, "We learn from the AKP-aligned media that there will be new detainees as well. Those who received sentences under two years were not being arrested, but now they will be. Who are these sentences under two years given to? Not to gang members, not to murderers, but to those who post tweets, to journalists, and to union members."
"Let's take a snapshot of today's existing laws, execution laws, judicial packages, and the bill that we have learned will consist of 55 articles. If a person committed the crime of robbery and the date of the crime was February 2020, if the sentence received is 9 years without reduction, with this new law, they could remain in a closed prison for only 1 month. In July 2023, they caused a pregnant woman to lose her child through armed assault, resulting in the baby's death. They received a 6-year sentence without reduction, but they will be free after staying in prison for only 1 month."

MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız made posts stating that the releases during the COVID-19 period were contrary to the principle of equality. Pehlivan stated, "In the amnesties where crimes against the state and terrorism were excluded in 2022 and 2023, a 3+5 probation was granted. Now, it is requested that this be applied even if the sentences are not upheld. Since there is a right to judicial control for crimes committed before July 29, 2023, without waiting for the sentence to be upheld, they are released. What crimes could come to mind that were committed before July 2023 but whose appeals have not yet been finalized? What happened on December 30, 2022? Sinan Ateş was murdered. If this law passes, those who were convicted of aiding and abetting in the Sinan Ateş murder, for example, the police officers who transported the hitman, for example, Emre Yüksel, will be released as soon as this law is enacted," he said.
