New appointments by Erdoğan in Ankara, Istanbul, and İzmir

The appointment decree for administrative officials, bearing the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has been published in the Official Gazette.

With the Presidential Decree dated June 17 and numbered 2026/148, the duty stations of a total of 430 administrative officials serving in the central and provincial organizations of the Ministry of Interior have been reorganized.

While the duty stations of numerous district governors and deputy governors were changed under the decree, various appointments and assignments were also made within the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Personnel, General Directorate of Provincial Administration, General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, and General Directorate of Information Technologies.

NEW ASSIGNMENTS IN THE CAPITAL

With the decree, several individuals were appointed to the position of Deputy Governor of Ankara.

Emir Osman Bulgurlu, District Governor of Çerkeş in Çankırı; Adem Öztürk, District Governor of Bozüyük in Bilecik; Gürkan Demirkale, District Governor of Ortahisar in Trabzon; Turgay Hakan Bilgin, District Governor of Altıeylül in Balıkesir; Hüseyin Çam, Deputy Governor of Nevşehir; and Nur Sevinç Özbek Çakas, Deputy Governor of Şanlıurfa, were appointed as Deputy Governors of Ankara.

APPOINTMENTS IN ISTANBUL ANNOUNCED

Within the scope of the decree, changes were also made to district governorships in some districts of Istanbul.

Uğur Bulut, District Governor of Pamukkale in Denizli, was appointed as the District Governor of Adalar; Eren Arslan, District Governor of İnegöl in Bursa, was appointed as the District Governor of Ataşehir; and Mehmet Akçay, District Governor of Keçiören in Ankara, was appointed as the District Governor of Maltepe.

On the other hand, Hasan Yaman, District Governor of Ayvalık in Balıkesir, was appointed as the District Governor of Bergama in İzmir, and Vural Karagül, District Governor of Tire in İzmir, was appointed as the District Governor of Milas in Muğla.

One of the notable regulations in the decree concerned Önder Can, Deputy Governor of Uşak.

In the decision published in the Official Gazette, it was reported that the provision regarding the appointment of Önder Can as Deputy Governor of Nevşehir, made with the Presidential Decree dated May 27, 2025, and numbered 2025/205, was canceled in accordance with a court ruling.

The decree entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette.

EVALUATION FROM INTERIOR MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ

Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi announced that the Administrative Officials Appointment Decree had been published in the Official Gazette.

Making a statement on his social media account, Çiftçi said, "With the approval and discretion of our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Administrative Officials Appointment Decree for our Ministry of Interior has been published. The duty stations of a total of 430 administrative officials serving in our Ministry's central and provincial organizations, who have completed their service periods in their current locations or were evaluated based on service and excuse conditions, have been redetermined based on merit, seniority, service requirements, and institutional needs."

Sharing the details of the appointments, Çiftçi stated, "In this context, 11 of the 15 administrative officials serving in the provincial organization were appointed to positions in the central organization as district governors, and 4 as deputy governors. Furthermore, 208 of our administrative officials were appointed from district governorship to district governorship, 82 from district governorship to deputy governorship, 74 from deputy governorship to deputy governorship, and 32 from deputy governorship to district governorship. Additionally, the duty stations of 5 district governors in Istanbul, 4 in Ankara, and 6 in İzmir have been changed."

Çiftçi also included the following statements in his announcement:

"Furthermore, out of 13 of our administrative officials serving as trustees in 6 provinces and 7 districts, 4 administrative officials serving as district trustees have been appointed to positions suitable for their requests and seniority in line with the successful services they provided during their terms; senior and successful administrative officials have been assigned in their place. On the path to building the Century of Turkey; I wholeheartedly believe that our administrative officials, who are the state representatives closest to our nation, will continue to serve our cities and our beloved nation with the same determination using their knowledge, accumulation, and experience. I wish our decree to be auspicious and beneficial for our administrative officials, their precious families, the cities where they will serve, and our beloved nation. May the Almighty grant them success in these important duties they have undertaken."
