New bribery operation targeting the Tax Inspection Board

A new operation has been launched as part of the "bribery" investigation conducted by the Public Officials Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The first of the comprehensive operations carried out by teams from the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch was held on December 26, 2024.
During the 3rd wave of the operation conducted within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that many people were involved in similar acts during the expert examination of the phones seized from the suspects. In this context, it was determined that the suspects, whose identities were revealed in the image and image analysis reports, were involved in the crime of bribery, and that these individuals established relationships with company owners and demanded and received bribes in exchange for avoiding criminal sanctions.
Acting in light of the new evidence, teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Branch launched a new operation this morning as part of the bribery investigation into the Tax Inspection Board. As a result of long-term technical and physical surveillance, simultaneous operations were carried out in 4 provinces, centered in Istanbul. It was stated that 10 suspects were apprehended in the raids.
The apprehended suspects were taken to the police station for questioning. It was reported that the investigation process is ongoing.
