In Sakarya, allegations of an illicit affair between AKP Adapazarı Mayor Mutlu Işıksu and E.S., who has served as the municipality's Chief of Staff for 8 years, have dominated the agenda.

C.S., the university student daughter of E.S., had told Chief Ombudsman Mehmet Akarca at a meeting of the Ombudsman Institution that she had seen correspondence between her mother and Mayor Mutlu Işıksu.

C.S., who wanted to bring what she witnessed to court, stated that she was first threatened and then offered money during this process, saying the following:

“Hello. First, let me introduce myself. I am a 4th-year law student. I live in Sakarya. My mother also works at the municipality. For this reason, I witnessed something wrong regarding the mayor. Because of this, I received many threats. When the matter was about to be taken to the judiciary, I was offered money through our lawyer. When I refused this, the mayor filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office claiming that I had set up a blackmail plot and filed a 50 million lira non-pecuniary damages lawsuit against me. It is said that these correspondences belong to me, but their contents are conversations that should not be attributed to me.”

(The petition C.S. wrote to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey)

IŞIKSU'S ‘BLACKMAIL’ DEFENSE

Mayor Mutlu Işıksu denied all allegations and claimed that 40 million TL was demanded from him, and that he was threatened that his political life would be ended if this demand was not met.

After the scandal broke, the AKP Headquarters referred Mutlu Işıksu to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion, while Hakan S., the husband of E.S., filed for divorce on the grounds of 'infidelity and adultery'.

192 PAGES OF MESSAGES IN THE CASE FILE

According to Sözcü's report, it was learned that the divorce case file filed by Hakan S. contains exactly 192 pages of correspondence between Mutlu Işıksu and E.S.
