New chapter in the fake diploma scandal: 'Street dealer' Mıhyeddin Yakışır made chief inspector in the narcotics branch

Journalist Timur Soykan has shared a new allegation with the public regarding how individuals accused of forgery and drug-related crimes were appointed to positions in public institutions.

In his statement on the TV program, Soykan said that Mıhyeddin Yakışır, one of the key figures of the "forgery ring," was appointed as a chief inspector in the Narcotics Branch.

According to Soykan's allegation, Mıhyeddin Yakışır was a figure known in the past as a "street dealer" (torbacı) and was linked to drug sales. However, over time, thanks to his connections within the police force, he rose through the ranks in the Narcotics Branch and reached the position of chief inspector. Emphasizing that this is not merely a matter of an appointment, Soykan stated, "This is an organized structure. It is not just an individual infiltration; there is a systematic placement involved. The fact that a person accused of street-level drug dealing in the past is now heading a unit that is supposed to fight against drugs presents a grave picture for public safety."

Soykan's allegations are not limited to Mıhyeddin Yakışır. Stating that there are other files indicating that members of various criminal organizations have taken office in critical units within the police force, Soykan said, "There is a chain of forgery and cronyism that extends from the judiciary to law enforcement, and from bureaucracy to education. It is our duty to bring this decay to the attention of the public."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Mıhyeddin Yakışır's name had previously appeared in investigations conducted into a criminal network that facilitated travel abroad using forged documents. It was alleged that this network made appointments to various positions by bypassing both identity and security background checks with forged documents. Yakışır's past criminal record and criminal connections, meanwhile, had been cleared through fake documents and references.
