The first session of the Büyükçekmece Municipal Council for January was held under the chairmanship of Mayor Hasan Akgün.

During the meeting, an agenda item regarding the imposition of administrative fines on motorcycle couriers and riders who use areas closed to vehicle traffic, such as the waterfront, parks, sidewalks, and pavements where pedestrian traffic is heavy, was discussed and decided upon.

According to the article accepted unanimously by the council, an administrative fine of 2,953 Turkish Lira will be imposed on motorcycle couriers and motorcycle users who use areas closed to vehicle traffic.

Furthermore, if a motorcycle courier is fined 3 times within 1 year, the workplace they are affiliated with will also be temporarily sealed.

Mayor Akgün stated that there have been intense complaints recently regarding motorcycle couriers and motorcycle users.

Stating that the Büyükçekmece Municipality has taken action on this situation, Akgün said, "Other municipalities should take this as an example and do the same. We will not be able to cope with it otherwise. If they continue, both their motorcycles will be impounded for driving in an area where vehicle entry is prohibited by law, and their workplace will be sealed. Later, the workplace license will also be revoked."
