The trial in the US of 17-year-old Timur Cihantimur, who caused the death of Oğuz Murat Aci while driving without a license and was taken away by his mother Eylem Tok, continues.

It has been learned that Cihantimur was transferred on July 12 from the Manson Youth Institution in Connecticut, where he was being held, to the North Jersey Juvenile Detention Center in the state of New Jersey.

According to NTV, Timur Cihantimur's lawyers claimed that the transfer puts their client's mental health at risk.

The reason cited was the 5-hour distance between the court and the detention center, which prevents routine meetings from taking place.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 1 in Eyüpsultan, one of three ATVs traveling on the road broke down. While the broken-down vehicle was being repaired on the side of the road, one of two vehicles traveling in the same direction struck the three ATVs, resulting in the death of Oğuz Murat Aci among the five people injured.

It was determined that the 17-year-old driver, Timur Cihantimur, who caused the accident, was taken from the scene by his mother Eylem Tok, and that the pair first went to Egypt and then to the US.

The temporary arrest request documents for the extradition of the suspects were submitted to the competent US authorities by the Ministry of Justice.
