It was widely discussed that Arda Turan, who thought he was investing in a private fund that allegedly brought high returns, had taken out a 33 million TL loan from Denizbank and given the money to Seçil Erzan. The details of this much-discussed event have now come to light. The 33 million loan detail was included in Arda Turan's statement.
"I TOOK OUT A LOAN FROM DENIZBANK"
In his statement, Arda Turan provided detailed information about how he met Seçil Erzan and the money he gave her, and touched upon the loan section as follows:
“She called me so often, saying there was a major liquidity crunch in the fund, that I took out a 33,000,000 TL loan from Denizbank. I gave this to Seçil Erzan in cash. In total, I have given her 13,900,000 USD in cash to date. She paid me back 6,400,000 USD, but did not pay the remaining amount.”
According to the bank records in the file, it appears that Arda Turan took out this loan on December 2, 2022.
HE TOOK OUT ANOTHER 2 MILLION
According to the bank records in the file, it has been revealed that Arda Turan took out another personal loan after the 33 million TL one. According to the documents that have emerged, Arda Turan took out a 2 million TL personal loan from the Denizbank Levent branch on February 28, 2023, with a 12-month term and monthly repayments of 224 thousand. The payment date for the first installment corresponds to April 14, 2023, which is 3 days after Seçil Erzan was arrested.
ARDA TURAN WAS REQUESTED TO BE BROUGHT IN
Following the outbreak of the incident, Seçil Erzan was detained on April 11, 2023, and subsequently arrested and sent to prison. The prosecutor's office, which is continuing the investigation, sent an instruction letter to the police to have the identified complainants testify before the prosecutor. In the instruction letter sent, it was requested that the mentioned complainants be made available at the prosecutor's office, with priority given to Arda Turan, and that he be brought in on April 13 at 11:00 AM.
ARDA TURAN COULD NOT BE REACHED
However, it turned out that police teams could not reach Arda Turan by the specified date. The correspondence stated the following:
”Dear Public Prosecutor, instructions were given to the officers of our Branch Directorate to have the individuals named as complainants in the file content ready to give their statements at the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, primarily by reaching the person named Arda TURAN on 13.04.2023 at 11:00 AM. The person named Arda TURAN could not be contacted in any way. In the meeting held with the Public Prosecutor on 12.04.2023, it was instructed that all documents prepared and evidence obtained regarding the actions taken be delivered to the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Branch Directorate as they are, in order for the investigation to continue.”
