New detentions in Bolu fire tragedy

As part of the investigation into the hotel fire in Bolu Kartalkaya, Bolu Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Sırrı Köstereli and Deputy Secretary General Bünyamin Bal have been detained.

In the fire that broke out in the early hours of January 21 at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, one of Turkey's most important winter tourism hubs, 78 people, mostly children, lost their lives, and 51 people were injured. Within the scope of the investigation, 28 people have been detained and 19 people have been arrested. Deputy Mayor Sedat Gülener, Acting Fire Chief Kenan Coşkun, fire department personnel İrfan Acar, hotel owner Halit Ergül, hotel manager Zeki Yılmaz, hotel accounting manager Kadir Özdemir, chef Faysal Yaver, electrician Hüseyin Özer, and kitchen staff Yusuf Karahanlı, Fidan Kurç, and Mehmet Gündüz were arrested. Occupational safety expert E.K. and the hotel's 78-year-old architect Ali B. were released. Additionally, Ahmet Demir, the manager of Ergül's other hotel, Gazelle Resort & Spa, and 6 others were also arrested.
