New development in Adalar Municipality investigation: 3 people released, 39 referred to courthouse

While 39 people detained in the operation targeting Adalar Municipality have been referred to the courthouse, 3 people have been released.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into Adalar Municipality, detention warrants were issued for 47 people, including Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat, deputy mayors, and municipal employees.

Simultaneous operations were carried out in Kocaeli, Rize, and Sivas, with the center of the investigation in Istanbul. In raids conducted at a total of 90 addresses, 42 people, including Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat, were taken into custody.

SIMULTANEOUS OPERATIONS IN FOUR PROVINCES

In a statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was reported that the investigation into those detained is being conducted on allegations of "bribery," "extortion," "forgery of official documents," "establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "violation of the Law No. 2863 on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Property," and "misconduct in office."

42 people were detained in operations carried out at designated addresses in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Rize, and Sivas.

39 PEOPLE REFERRED TO COURTHOUSE

Of the 42 people whose procedures at the police station were completed, 39 were referred to the courthouse.

The 3 people in custody were released upon the instruction of the prosecutor's office.
