New development in bribery investigation into Seferihisar Municipality

The 47 people detained as part of the "bribery" investigation conducted into the municipality in the Seferihisar district of İzmir have been referred to the courthouse after the completion of their processing at the police station.

Detention warrants were issued for 48 people in the investigation coordinated by the Seferihisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. 47 people were detained in an operation carried out by teams from the İzmir Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau on Friday, September 11.

It was reported that efforts are ongoing to apprehend one person for whom a detention warrant has been issued.

It was stated that the investigation file includes allegations against the suspects of "bribery, bid-rigging, misconduct in office, irregularities in zoning and licensing procedures, illegal sale of public real estate, and destruction of evidence." It was also reported that the file contains findings regarding actions linked to a criminal organization.

The suspects in custody were taken to the courthouse in the morning under extensive security measures.
