Police teams were dispatched to an apartment in the Bağlar neighborhood of Iğdır yesterday evening following reports of a gunshot sound coming from the residence.

Upon inspection of the apartment, teams determined that 27-year-old Ceren Işık had died after being shot. Following the investigation at the scene, the young woman's body was taken to the forensic morgue to determine the exact cause of death.

Police teams detained I.K., who was present in the home where the incident occurred and was later identified as having left the address. It was learned that in his statement, I.K. said that four people had been drinking alcohol together in the house before the incident, that H.T. and B.Y. had left the house after a while, and that he heard a gunshot from inside as he was stepping out. Following this statement, H.T. and B.Y. were also apprehended by the police and taken to the police station.

As part of the investigation, an examination of Ceren Işık's mobile phone allegedly revealed messages exchanged with her mother shortly before the incident, in which she expressed thoughts of ending her life.

The three suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were released under the instruction of the prosecutor's office.

While the possibility that the incident was a suicide is being considered, it was reported that the investigation is ongoing.
