The latest hearing of the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization case, which has dominated Turkey's agenda and caused an earthquake within the Ankara Police Department, was held on September 16.
Ayhan Bora Kaplan's lawyers, who had filed a motion for recusal, had requested that the presiding judge and the members of the court be replaced by a different panel.
REQUEST FOR RECUSAL REJECTED
According to the report by Mesut Hasan Benli from Hürriyet, the court panel rejected the recusal request filed by Kaplan's lawyers on the grounds that “the recusal requests by Kaplan's defense counsel were not made in a timely manner, there was no evidence provided for the recusal requests, and the requests were made for the purpose of delaying the trial.”
