New development in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan case: Ministry takes action

The Ministry of Interior has announced that an inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations regarding the case of Ayhan Bora Kaplan, who was arrested 8 months ago on charges of being the leader of a 'criminal organization' and who is alleged to have had close ties to former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

The Ministry of Interior stated that an inspector has been appointed for the allegations in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan file, announcing that, "Civilian inspectors have been assigned by our Ministry of Interior to clarify the allegations on social media regarding an organized crime group in Ankara, which was previously investigated by the Ankara Provincial Police Department and whose court process is ongoing."

The Ministry of Interior stated the following in a post on its X account:

"For 22 years, under the leadership of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we have been working with great effort for a New, Great, and Strong Turkey. In line with the 'Century of Turkey' goals set by our President, and with the great support he has provided, and with the strength we derive from the law for 'Turkey's Peace,' a total of 469 organized crime groups—15 international, 40 national, 78 regional, and 336 local—have been dismantled in the last 10 months.

While our fight against organized crime groups continues, posts containing allegations regarding the Ankara Provincial Police Department are being made from some social media accounts. Civilian inspectors have been assigned by our Ministry of Interior to clarify the allegations on social media regarding an organized crime group in Ankara, which was previously investigated by the Ankara Provincial Police Department and whose court process is ongoing. Developments will continue to be shared with the public."
