New development in the Santa Maria Church attack
Viskhan Soltamatiov, a member of the terrorist organization ISIS who was one of the planners of the attack on the Santa Maria Church in Istanbul's Sarıyer district—which resulted in one death—and who provided the weapon used in the attack, has been arrested.

The police procedures for Viskhan Soltamatiov, a member of the terrorist organization ISIS who was wanted as part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the attack on the Santa Maria Italian Church on January 28, 2024, and who was captured in a joint operation by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and the General Directorate of Security, have been completed.
ARRESTED
The suspect was taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan and, following his statement, was referred to the judgeship with a request for his arrest.
The Istanbul Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace ordered the arrest of Soltamatiov on charges of "membership in an armed terrorist organization," "premeditated murder," and "attempting to abolish the constitutional order."
