New development in the search for Narin Güran

The search for 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing in Diyarbakır, continues on its 12th day. Commandos participating in the search efforts have sent pieces of clothing and fabric found in the area to the Council of Forensic Medicine.

8-year-old Narin Güran went missing on August 21 after leaving a Quran course in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district.

COMMANDOS DEPLOYED TO THE FIELD

The search for Narin continues on its 12th day, led by gendarmerie and AFAD teams.

A large number of commandos conducted search operations in the rural area near the Sarıdallı neighborhood, which is adjacent to Tavşantepe.

The commandos collected pieces of clothing and fabric found during their search in the fields and cornfields as evidence and sent them to the Diyarbakır Council of Forensic Medicine for examination.

Search efforts are ongoing.

UNCLE HAD BEEN DETAINED

As part of the Narin Güran investigation, Narin's uncle, Salim Güran, who is the headman (muhtar) of Tavşantepe neighborhood, was detained yesterday (August 31).

DNA samples found in the uncle's vehicle matched DNA samples from Narin Güran's clothing. It was determined that the uncle had left the village 15 minutes after Narin was last seen.

According to a report by Halk TV, it was discovered that the uncle had used a special application to delete all messages and call logs from his phone during the investigation.

STATEMENTS TAKEN FROM 130 PEOPLE

Approximately 150 vehicles identified as passing through the area at the time Narin went missing were questioned. Searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and in vehicles entering the village. To date, a total of 12,565 vehicles have been searched, statements have been taken from 130 people, 32,952 people have been checked, and more than 11,000 decares of land have been searched with 7 tracking dogs.

OLDER BROTHER HAD ALSO BEEN DETAINED

As part of the investigation, Narin Güran's older brother, E.G. (18), was detained due to bite marks on his arm. E.G. was released after examinations at the Istanbul Council of Forensic Medicine could not determine whether the bite marks belonged to Narin.

STATEMENT FROM THE RTÜK PRESIDENT

RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin announced that penalties would be imposed for news reports regarding 8-year-old Narin Güran, who has not been found for 12 days in Diyarbakır.

RTÜK President Şahin included the following statements in his post on his social media account:

"As is known, a publication ban was issued by the Diyarbakır 5th Criminal Court of Peace regarding news about the missing Narin Güran. However, there have been new developments regarding the incident in question, and it has been determined that many media service providers have violated the publication ban by reporting on these developments. Due to the sensitivity of the matter, all media service providers must act in accordance with the issued publication ban. Otherwise, the harshest sanctions will be applied to organizations that violate the publication ban."
