Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chair for Election and Party Legal Affairs, lawyer Gül Çiftçi, shared information on her social media account that Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, who is being held at Paşakapısı Prison, is set to be transferred.
In her social media post, Çiftçi made the following statement:
We have just received information that they will transfer our Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat from Paşakapısı Prison, where he is being held, to Silivri.
They kept him in poor conditions in a detention cell for four days and referred him to the prosecutor's office without taking his statement at the police station.
Following the arrest decision, they first took him to Metris and then to Paşakapısı Prison. Now, they are transferring him to Silivri Prison without even giving him a chance to rest.
From the very beginning, the government has been implementing an organized policy of deterrence against Rıza Akpolat.
