The police procedures have been completed for the four female suspects, two of whom are under 18, who were caught by citizens yesterday on allegations of pickpocketing at the Bakırköy Public Market and caused panic among shoppers by claiming there was a "bomb".
While suspects M.G. and İ.P. were referred to the courthouse, those under 18, G.P. and E.N.A., were released following their statements at the police station.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The suspects, who were alleged to have been pickpocketing at the Bakırköy Public Market, which was crowded with shoppers for the Ramadan Feast, were caught by citizens. After the suspects shouted "there is a bomb" in the market area to escape, shoppers headed toward the exit doors in a panic.
While a minor stampede occurred as citizens tried to leave the market area, police teams dispatched to the scene took suspects M.G. and İ.P., as well as the minors G.P. and E.N.A., into custody.
A bag dropped by the suspects at the scene was found to contain kitchenware and a large number of clothes.
