New development regarding the health status of retired General Çetin Doğan

A statement has been released by the lawyer of 83-year-old retired General Çetin Doğan, who was convicted in the February 28 case, the indictment for which was written by former Ankara Public Prosecutor Mustafa Bilgili, who is currently imprisoned for FETÖ ties.

The condition of five commanders, who are being held in prison due to the February 28 case and have an average age of 80, is deteriorating. Despite numerous appeals, the commanders, who suffer from various health problems, continue to be kept in prison. Nilgün Doğan, the wife of Çetin Doğan, who recently suffered a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, had issued a call: “Put an end to the persecution of our husbands who have served this country so much and were willing to die for it.”

Lawyer Hüseyin Ersöz had used the phrase “interference with the right to life.” Ersöz shared the latest information regarding Çetin Doğan’s health status on his social media account.

"WAITING BEFORE ERDOĞAN"

Lawyer Ersöz's statement regarding 83-year-old retired General Çetin Doğan, who is being held at the İzmir No. 1 F-Type Prison, is as follows:

"Our client, Çetin Doğan, was taken to Ege University Hospital over the weekend after his blood pressure levels rose at the İzmir F-Type Closed Prison. Following the diagnosis made after examinations, Çetin Doğan’s gallbladder was removed in a surgery performed this morning.

While we have received information that our client, who is also at risk for pancreatitis, is in good health, he continues to be kept under observation in the hospital due to ongoing health problems related to his age. Our client is being accompanied by his wife, Nilgül Doğan. The file of Çetin Doğan, for whom the Council of Forensic Medicine has issued a report of “senility and chronic illness,” has been before the President since April 2023."
