New development regarding the murdered taxi driver! Statement from the family's lawyers

The lawyers for the family of Oğuz Erge, a taxi driver who was shot and killed by a passenger he picked up in İzmir, have issued a statement.

In a joint statement issued by the family's lawyers Oğuzhan Aslan, Ahmet Serkan Göktürk, and Orhan Bakkal, it was stated that the judicial process regarding the perpetrator is being closely monitored and that the Provincial Security Directorate and the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office are conducting the investigation process meticulously.

The statement noted that reports have been shared on certain social media accounts claiming that the perpetrator was attacked in prison and is severely injured, and included the following remarks:

"These posts and news reports do not reflect the reality. As our clients are exposed to such news, their pain is compounded. Our clients' only expectation is for the perpetrator to receive the harshest punishment he deserves. We kindly request that no credence be given to news and posts other than those made by official authorities and by us. Furthermore, necessary legal procedures will be initiated regarding insulting posts directed at Oğuz Erge and his family on some social media accounts."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Taxi driver Oğuz Erge had picked up Delil Aysal (19), who was wearing a hoodie and a surgical mask and stated he was going to Gaziemir, from Buca Gediz Neighborhood at around 03:30 on January 31.

When the taxi arrived near the Gaziemir Municipality, Erge was severely wounded after Aysal fired three shots from the back seat with a handgun, and he later passed away at the İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, where he had been taken.

The suspect, who fled after taking money and belongings from Erge and his vehicle, was caught in an operation at the address where he was hiding in Buca, following an investigation by police of approximately 110 hours of footage recorded by 70 security cameras at the scene and in the surrounding area, and was subsequently arrested.

It was revealed that the events occurring before, during, and after the incident were recorded by the in-vehicle camera.
