New digital findings in the Rojin Kabaiş investigation: Lawyer requests detention for two individuals

It has been learned that new digital findings have been added to the investigation file regarding the suspicious death of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University student Rojin Kabaiş. It was determined that on September 27, 2024, the day Kabaiş went missing, she exchanged messages on Instagram with an individual named M.Ç.
According to information reflected in the file, the messaging took place between 14:30 and 18:47. It was stated that in the correspondence, M.Ç. said he had found seashells on the shore of Lake Van and could bring some for those who wanted them, to which Kabaiş replied, "seashells." It was noted that Kabaiş addressed M.Ç. as "teacher" (hocam) in the correspondence.
Another point of interest in the investigation is that M.Ç. closed his Instagram account after the incident. The file also includes the fact that M.Ç., who is stated to be a former research assistant at the Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Medicine, emitted a signal from the same cell tower as Kabaiş during the critical hours.
Abdurrahman Karabulut, the lawyer for the Kabaiş family, applied to the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following these findings. Karabulut requested that an urgent detention order be issued for M.Ç. and M.N.K., who is said to have been in contact with M.Ç. after the incident, and that their DNA samples be collected.
It was alleged that while DNA samples have been taken from numerous people in the case, a sample has not yet been taken from M.Ç. The fact that Kabaiş's encrypted phone has not yet been unlocked and that a remote "reset/wipe" command was sent to the device on October 10, days after she went missing, is also considered among the critical aspects of the investigation.
