New discovery in the search for missing economist Korhan Berzeg!
Search efforts continue for economist Korhan Berzeg, who has been missing since he left his home for a morning walk in the Gönen district of Balıkesir last June. In the area where clothing, bone fragments, and bank and credit cards believed to belong to Berzeg were previously found, teams have now discovered another bone fragment approximately 10 centimeters in size.

Missing economist Korhan Berzeg's search, which began 3 days ago in the Fındıklı Creek area between the rural neighborhoods of Armutlu and Gelgeç—where bone and clothing fragments, as well as identification and bank cards believed to belong to him were found—is being continued by Gendarmerie teams.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Gönen Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 59 personnel participated in the search for further bone fragments in the area, including 6 Gendarmerie Public Order Teams, 3 Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Teams (JASAT), one Intelligence Team, 3 Gendarmerie Public Order Commando units, and 3 cadaver-detection dogs sent from the Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
ANOTHER BONE FOUND
Due to the dense vegetation in the region, teams searching with rakes on the 3rd day of operations found another bone fragment approximately 10 centimeters in size, which has not yet been determined to be human or animal.
It was learned that the bone has been sent to Istanbul to determine if it is connected to the others previously found.
It was also learned that the operations have been paused until tomorrow morning (27.04.2024).
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
A search operation was launched under the coordination of the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) for economist Korhan Berzeg (83), who had not been heard from since he left his home in Armutlu neighborhood for a morning walk with his dog "Tina" on June 17, 2023.
Teams searched for days for Berzeg and his dog in the forested area around Armutlu, as well as in nearby neighborhoods, water wells, creek beds, and caves, but could not find any trace.
The dog spotted by a citizen between the Geyikli and Armutlu neighborhoods on August 29 was identified by the Berzeg family as "Tina." The dog was found to be healthy and well-cared for. No results were obtained even after the dog, fitted with a Global Positioning System (GPS) device, was released back into the terrain.
On April 23, bone and clothing fragments, along with identification and bank cards, were found by local residents approximately 3.5 kilometers from Armutlu and were taken under examination by the teams.
Korhan Berzeg's wife, Angela, and daughter, Nisa Berzeg, came to Gönen to provide DNA samples, which were sent to Istanbul for laboratory analysis.
