A new era at the Istanbul Police Department: Selami Yıldız appointed as Chief! Who is Selami Yıldız?

Deputy Director General of Security and Head of Intelligence Selami Yıldız has become the new Istanbul Police Chief.

Journalist İsmail Saymaz announced that Selami Yıldız has been appointed as the Istanbul Provincial Police Chief. Following the retirement of Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Zafer Aktaş due to the age limit on December 5, he was succeeded by Selami Yıldız, the Head of Intelligence at the General Directorate of Security.

WHO IS SELAMİ YILDIZ?

Selami Yıldız was born in Istanbul in 1968.

Selami Yıldız graduated from the Ankara Police College in 1986 and from the Police Academy in 1990.

Between 1998 and 2000, he served as a Security Attaché at the Portuguese Embassy.

In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of First Class Police Chief.

In 2017, he was appointed as the Adana Provincial Police Chief.

In 2023, he was appointed as Deputy Director General of Security.
