A meeting was held in Beştepe to ensure a more effective fight against illegal betting.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz chaired the summit, which was attended by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, and representatives from the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) and the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK).
It was stated at the meeting that although existing legal regulations for combating illegal betting are sufficient, some problems are being experienced in practice.
AKP sources emphasized that there are difficulties, particularly in identifying the IP addresses of banned sites and in the processes for shutting down these sites.
NEW REGULATIONS ON THE WAY
Within the scope of the new regulations discussed at the meeting, it was reported that steps will be taken to identify the addresses of banned betting sites more quickly and to shorten the shutdown processes.
In addition, increasing the penalties for those who participate in illegal betting will also be among the planned regulations.
