New security camera footage has emerged regarding the armed incident in an office in Istanbul's Fatih district, where currency and gold exchange transactions are conducted, and where Adnan Aksoy and his brother Kadir Aksoy lost their lives.
In the recordings from before the incident, which took place in Nuruosmaniye Neighborhood on September 15, the Aksoy brothers are seen arriving at a tea house in the business arcade with a large group accompanying them. It was stated that the camera clock showed 12:55 in the footage, and that the group moved to the currency exchange office after staying there for a short time.
It was stated that after the group moved to the office, an argument broke out with the business owner, Kemal E., and those with him. The police investigation concluded that the incident was not a mutual shootout, but rather that fire was opened on the Aksoy brothers and those with them following the argument.
As a result of the gunfire, Adnan Aksoy (30) and his brother Kadir Aksoy (27) lost their lives. E.A. (19) and B.S. (33) were also injured in the incident.
COUNTERFEIT DOLLARS AND CAMERA RECORDINGS UNDER INVESTIGATION
In searches conducted by the Murder Bureau teams after the incident, 1 million 900 thousand counterfeit dollars were found in the office. While the possibility that the incident might be linked to counterfeit money is being focused on in the initial stages, it is being investigated who the money belongs to and whether it has any connection to the murders.
Furthermore, it was determined during the investigation that the business owner, Kemal E., attempted to delete the security camera footage after the incident. It was learned that some recordings had been deleted, and that a portion of the footage was recovered from the hard drive through the technical work of the Murder Bureau teams.
The recovered footage is being examined to determine how the incident started and to identify the individuals who opened fire. While the wide-ranging investigation into the armed incident continues, it was reported that 10 people are in custody.
