New footage emerges from the Beşiktaş nightclub tragedy that killed 29 people

New footage has emerged regarding the fire that occurred at a nightclub undergoing renovations in Gayrettepe, Istanbul, which resulted in the deaths of 29 people. The footage shows workers inside before the fire, individuals from outside attempting to use a fire extinguisher, and smoke suddenly engulfing the interior.

In the incident that took place on April 2 in Gayrettepe, Beşiktaş, a fire broke out while renovations were being carried out at a nightclub operating on the -1 and -2 floors of a 16-story building. 29 people lost their lives in the fire. In the indictment prepared regarding the incident, it was requested that 9 defendants be sentenced to up to 22 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of 'causing the death of more than one person through conscious negligence.' The hearing at the Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court had continued after a recess at the courtroom within the Marmara Penal Execution Institutions Campus.

TWO DETAINEES WERE RELEASED AT THE HEARING

Announcing its interim decision, the court panel ruled for the release of defendants Dursun Çelik and İbrahim Bildirici under judicial control, citing the time spent in detention, the fact that evidence had been collected, and the lack of flight risk. The court ruled for the continuation of the detention of the other detained defendants. The hearing was adjourned to allow for the completion of missing procedures.
