New 'Galatasaray' statement from Fatih Portakal! 'It is not fake news...'

Journalist Fatih Portakal has apologized to Galatasaray for not broadcasting the full referee meeting that leaked to social media, after only including a portion of it in his main news bulletin.

Footage of a referee meeting that leaked to social media in recent days has become a major topic in the sports community. After the footage, which discussed the penalty decision given in favor of the Yellow-Reds in the Galatasaray - Antalyaspor match, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) released the entire meeting.

Journalist Fatih Portakal included only the part of the meeting related to Galatasaray in his main news bulletin on Sözcü TV. The Yellow-Red club announced in a statement that they would file a complaint with RTÜK regarding Fatih Portakal and Sözcü TV.

In a statement made at exactly 19:07, Portakal said, "Our power lies in our influence. I am that clear. No one can criticize our journalism. Neither mine nor that of my colleagues here. Our conscience is clear, we are doing our job. If there is anyone who is uncomfortable, they will continue to be uncomfortable."

NEW STATEMENT FROM FATIH PORTAKAL: HE APOLOGIZED

Making a new statement on his own YouTube channel, Portakal apologized to the Galatasaray community.

Emphasizing that it was not fake news, manipulation, or a montage, Portakal said, "We also used the footage that was leaked to the internet. It is not fake news, it is not a montage, but it is incomplete news. In this respect, I apologize to the Galatasaray club once again for the incompleteness of the news and for casting a shadow over the impartiality of the news. We should have watched the 3-hour footage. I am not hiding behind an excuse, but 120 news stories are produced a day, it should not have been overlooked. Fenerbahçe was also criticized. One of their penalties was given, one was not. There are other teams there too. We should have looked more carefully."
