A labeling regulation for flavorings has been introduced as part of an amendment to the Turkish Food Codex. The 'Turkish Food Codex Regulation on Flavorings and Food Ingredients with Flavoring Properties' has been updated in line with European Union (EU) legislation.
The regulation defines the flavorings used in foods, food ingredients with flavoring properties, the source materials used in their production, as well as conditions of use and labeling rules. Updates were made to the regulation in parallel with changes made to EU Regulations, and the amendments were published in the Official Gazette.
In this context, the flavoring labeling requirement has entered into force. Additional label information has been made mandatory for flavorings not intended for sale to the consumer. Furthermore, packaging or containers for flavoring substances and flavorings containing such substances must bear the statements 'Contains flavoring substance. Protect from light to prevent photo-transformation' and 'Keep away from light'.
