New lawsuit filed against Dilruba Kayserilioğlu: Up to 4 years in prison requested

It was alleged that a lawsuit had been filed against Dilruba Kayserilioğlu on charges of 'insulting the President.'

According to allegations, a lawsuit has been filed against Dilruba Kayserilioğlu (33), who was arrested and later released due to her remarks in a street interview in İzmir and was sentenced to 7 months and 15 days in prison in a trial where she was charged with 'inciting the public to hatred and enmity,' with a request for up to 4 years in prison on charges of 'insulting the President.'

Dilruba Kayserilioğlu, who criticized the access ban on Instagram and the animal welfare law in a street interview in İzmir, was arrested on August 12. Her lawyer, Hüseyin Yıldız, appealed the arrest of Kayserilioğlu, who faced charges of 'inciting the public to hatred, enmity, and humiliation' and 'insulting the President.' However, the appeal was rejected. Upon a second appeal, the arrest of Dilruba Kayserilioğlu on the charge of 'insult' was lifted, and a travel ban was imposed. Another appeal was filed for the release of Dilruba Kayserilioğlu, whose detention on the charge of 'inciting the public to hatred and enmity' continued. Following this final appeal, Kayserilioğlu was released on August 29.

Dilruba Kayserilioğlu appeared before the judge yesterday, facing a request for 6 years in prison for the crime of 'inciting the public to hatred and enmity' committed through the press, under Articles 216/1 and 2 and 218 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK). The court decided to acquit Dilruba Kayserilioğlu of the charge of 'inciting the public to hatred and enmity' as the elements of the crime were not met. She was sentenced to 6 months in prison for the crime of 'publicly humiliating a segment of the public.' Since this act was committed through the press, the court increased the sentence by 1/2 in accordance with Article 218 of the TCK, raising it to 9 months. The court also applied a 1/6 reduction for good conduct, lowering the sentence to 7 months and 15 days. The judge deferred the announcement of the verdict and lifted the judicial control decision regarding Dilruba Kayserilioğlu.

ALLEGATION OF A LAWSUIT FILED FOR INSULTING THE PRESIDENT

It was alleged that the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had prepared an indictment against Dilruba Kayserilioğlu, this time on charges of 'insulting the President.' Dilruba Kayserilioğlu would be tried with a request for up to 4 years in prison.

The statement from Dilruba's lawyer, Hüseyin Yıldız, regarding the matter revealed that the allegations were not true.

In a statement made on his social media account, Attorney Yıldız expressed the following:
