New legislative proposal from MHP's Özdemir following the Kartalkaya tragedy

MHP Deputy Chairman and Kayseri MP İsmail Özdemir has submitted a Bill on Amending the Municipal Law to Parliament following the fire tragedy at a hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya.

Özdemir made a statement on his social media account regarding the legislative proposal, which aims to make it mandatory for fire departments in every province to respond to fires and other disasters within a maximum of 10 minutes. In his statement, Özdemir included the following remarks:

“We experienced in a very painful way in Bolu how critical the response time to fires and other disasters is in our country in order to keep our people alive.

In this context, we have submitted our legislative proposal to our Parliament that will make it mandatory for fire departments in every province to respond to fires and other disasters within a maximum of 10 minutes.

Furthermore, we are also preparing our legislative proposal that envisions the periodic inspection of tourism facilities in accordance with the ‘Regulation on the Protection of Buildings from Fire'.

As our Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli stated at our TBMM group meeting, as the MHP, we will resolutely follow up to the end on the steps that need to be taken both to ensure that such disasters do not happen again and to ensure that those responsible, whoever they may be, receive the necessary punishment.”
