MUNICIPAL COUNCIL TO CONVENE IN AN EXTRAORDINARY SESSION
The Manisa Metropolitan Municipal Council will convene in an extraordinary session on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 15:00 to elect the new mayor. The election will be held in the council chamber at the municipal building.
TO BE CONDUCTED VIA SECRET BALLOT
In the election to be held under the Municipal Law No. 5393, council members will cast secret ballots. A two-thirds majority is required for a mayoral candidate to be elected in the first round. If this number is not reached, a simple majority will suffice in the second and third rounds.
CHP HAS THE ADVANTAGE
The distribution of seats by party in the 88-member Manisa Municipal Council is as follows:
CHP: 61
AK Party: 15
MHP: 11
İYİ Party: 1
According to this distribution, the CHP not only holds a simple majority on its own but also possesses voting power close to two-thirds. For this reason, the mayor to be elected is expected to be from the CHP.
