The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) has taken the Van Provincial Election Board's decision to deem Abdullah Zeydan "not elected" as the Mayor of Van Metropolitan Municipality and to award the certificate of election to the second-place candidate to the Supreme Election Council (YSK).

Zeydan and the party's lawyers have submitted an objection petition to the YSK requesting the cancellation of the Van Provincial Election Board's decision.

The Van Provincial Election Board had decided by majority vote to deem Abdullah Zeydan "not elected" on the grounds that he "lacked the eligibility to be elected" and to deliver the certificate of election to the second-place candidate who received the next highest number of votes and possessed the eligibility to be elected.
