The convention process and potential roadmaps remain on the agenda for the CHP, which saw a change in management following a court ruling. CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül, who made statements on the subject, evaluated both the claims of a new party and the extraordinary convention process.
DIFFERENT SCENARIOS FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF ENTERING ELECTIONS
Speaking on a live broadcast on Halk TV, Bülbül stated that if the convention is not held on time, there could be a risk regarding the party's participation in elections.
Bülbül said, "If they do not make a decision regarding the congress, and if we cannot hold our congress having skipped two conventions before July 26, 2026, in that case, the CHP will not be able to enter the elections. Since we cannot take this risk, and since we cannot leave the election eligibility of a party like the CHP to the mercy of the palace's judiciary, if there is no convention to be held before July 26, we will open a new path, we will find a new way." he stated.
Touching upon the option of a new party, Bülbül said, "Since a new party event would also pose a risk in an early general election, we will implement plans B, C, and D regarding parties that have already obtained the eligibility to enter elections."
RESPONSE TO NEW PARTY CLAIMS
In response to the question asked during the program, "What will the name of the new party be?" Bülbül replied, "It will not be 'Yürüyüş'." he answered.
Evaluating the convention calendar, Bülbül said, "We abide by every decision made by our elected chairman and our headquarters. Currently, March is being mentioned as a date by the CHP headquarters, which came to power with absolute nullity. Imagine, they say they will start the convention process in September, and the convention calendar is not even clear yet. In other words, they are going to stall, they are not going to hold a convention. What will they do? They will continue with expulsions." he said.
THEY WILL GO TO COURT FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY CONVENTION
Reminding of Article 48 of the CHP Charter, Bülbül stated that an extraordinary convention must be held within 45 days after the submission of the necessary signatures, and announced that they would apply to the civil court on Monday.
Regarding the issue, Bülbül said, "Article 48 of the charter is clear; it says an extraordinary congress is held within 45 days after the signatures are submitted. This is clear and precise. We will apply to the civil court on Monday and request a call committee. This call committee will request the signatures from the headquarters and make a decision regarding the congress." he stated.
