In the new peace process, architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, the terrorist organization PKK announced on May 12 that it had dissolved itself and would lay down its arms.
Doç. Dr. Derya Kömürcü, founder of Yöneylem Research, shared the results of a poll regarding the new peace process on her social media account.
Despite the process, it was observed that support for the government has not increased.
According to the poll results shared by Kömürcü, only 21.2 percent of participants stated they 'agree' and 17.5 percent stated they 'completely agree' that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be re-elected President at the end of the process. In contrast, 24.5 percent stated they 'do not agree at all,' and 20.2 percent stated they 'do not agree.'
While the rate of undecided voters and those who said 'I don't know' remained at 16.6 percent in total, the total percentage of those who believe Erdoğan will be re-elected came out to 38.7 percent. Those who do not believe it are at a higher rate of 44.7 percent.
Kömürcü shared the results of the aforementioned poll as follows:
"As a result of the 'process' being carried out, 39 percent believe Erdoğan will be re-elected president, while 45 percent do not. 69 percent of DEM Party voters do not think the process will result in Erdoğan's re-election. 78 percent of AKP voters and 52 percent of MHP voters believe this.
It is not possible to say that a belief prevails in public opinion that the process will result in an increase in Erdoğan's electoral support. It is too early to make hasty interpretations. The process should not be evaluated based on self-proclaimed prophecies."
