Following the murder of Cemil Önal, known as the accountant for Halil Falyalı, journalist Ayşemden Akın, Editor-in-Chief of Bugün Kıbrıs, has shared a new post. Akın had previously received death threats due to her investigative series titled "Halil Falyalı is Alive" in Cyprus.

Cypriot journalist Ayşemden Akın has remained in the spotlight due to the investigative file she has been pursuing following the death of Halil Falyalı.

Akın's name came to the fore once again after the murder of Cemil Önal.

Ayşemden Akın, who was threatened during a phone call lasting nearly half an hour, made a new post following the murder of Cemil Önal, known as Halil Falyalı's accountant, in the Netherlands.

Stating that she had received warnings from journalist colleagues and loved ones to go abroad following the threats she received, Akın announced that she had declined these offers.

Ayşemden Akın used the following expressions in her post:

A STATEMENT OF STATE

Following the execution of Cemil Önal in the Netherlands yesterday, I have been in contact with international journalist organizations. Old friends from Turkey, new acquaintances... They are all saying the same thing: "Leave the country. You are not safe."

They are offering to cover my travel expenses, rent, and living costs.

I am grateful.

But my answer is clear: No!

I will not leave my home or my country just because I am doing journalism.

I am not going anywhere.

Whatever happens, it will happen here, in my own home!
