New scandal involving AKP deputy whose wife obtained a poverty certificate: The SSI detail

Allegations that AKP Aksaray Deputy Hüseyin Altınsoy registered his wife, Serap Altınsoy, as an employee at his financial consultancy office for a long period, and that she was exempted from court fees by obtaining a "poverty certificate," have paved the way for new investigations.

It has been announced that an investigation has been launched by the Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor's Office because Serap Altınsoy, the wife of AKP's Hüseyin Altınsoy, obtained a "poverty certificate" from the neighborhood headman (muhtar) to avoid paying court fees in legal proceedings.

It was learned that Taşpazar Neighborhood Headman Menderes Tunç, whose signature appears on the document in question, has also been summoned to testify. Tunç stated, "I have no information about how the document was issued. I am not even aware of such an incident." He remained silent regarding how his signature appeared on the document.

Another allegation that has come to light is that Hüseyin Altınsoy registered his wife as an insured employee at the financial consultancy office he owns for 2.5 years, despite her not actually working there. In this context, it is claimed that insurance premiums were paid for Serap Altınsoy for a total of hundreds of days across different years from the office in question. It is alleged that insurance payments were made for 12 days in 2006, 114 days in 2016, 247 days in 2020, 360 days in 2021, and 210 days in 2022.

CHP figures brought the political dimension of the issue to the agenda. CHP Party Assembly member Abbas Ali Ertürk stated, "The deputy's wife worked as an insured employee at the financial consultancy office belonging to the deputy; it is known that this insurance transaction was not actual, that the person did not truly work there, and that she was shown as insured only on paper. In other words, a deputy is also deceiving the Social Security Institution (SSI)."

CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan also drew attention to the fact that Serap Altınsoy was exempted from paying court fees with a "poverty certificate" in a video he posted on social media, and stated that a prosecutor's investigation into the matter had begun.

Akdoğan made the following statements in his post:

The AK Party deputy apologized but did not hesitate to slander us as well. Since he attacked the Republican People's Party, let's open up a few more topics. We uncovered this abuse. We did not abuse it once.

You say, 'I didn't know about it.' How could you not know, my brother? As an Ankara deputy, I heard about this issue. You, as an Aksaray deputy, didn't hear about it, right? Who would believe that?

Your wife is one of four siblings. You say three of the four siblings are poor. Well, did she meet the conditions to obtain this poverty certificate? She did not.

If the monthly income of three out of four women in a family is below one-third of the minimum wage, you, as a ruling party deputy, have to answer for this as well.

Since yesterday, it has emerged that you already registered your wife as an insured employee in your own financial consultancy office improperly. Thus, another irregularity has emerged. You did not sit with your fault. You apologized by slandering the Republican People's Party. Now, the thing to do is very clear, my brother.

You will resign, you will resign. Is he not resigning? Then, Mr. Speaker of the Parliament, do what is necessary. Is it not happening? AK Party, Mr. President, do what is necessary.

He apologizes, calls the Republican People's Party abusers, and brings up conspiracy cases before us. There is no such thing, my brother. We are pursuing this to the end.
