On February 13, 9 workers were trapped under the rubble as a result of a landslide that occurred at the mining site operated by Anagold Madencilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. in the İliç district of Erzincan.

Providing information about the search and rescue efforts, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated, "We are taking measurements from 9 separate points against water contamination. So far, we have not encountered any negative results."

Minister Bayraktar continued his words as follows:

"As of last night, we saw that the site was a bit more stable. At this point, we have intensified our work since the night. Removing the soil in the stream bed is also our priority. We do not have the chance to put this soil in a random place. The landslide affected an area of 210 decares. It is a very large area. We are also conducting water measurements at 9 locations and there is no negative situation so far."

(Regarding the claim that a dynamite explosion caused the collapse) Our colleagues are investigating when the last blasting was carried out. But there is no such data regarding that day. How and where dynamite should be stored are all specific matters. But so far, no irregularity is apparent."
