Hafsa Sultan Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. İsmet Topçu and CHP Manisa Provincial Chair İlksen Özalper made statements regarding the health status of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who is receiving treatment in intensive care.

"Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek was brought to our institution after intervention by 112 following an electric shock. Resuscitation was performed in the emergency room for 500 minutes. A response was obtained afterward, and he was admitted to intensive care. His treatment has continued here.

During this process, he was connected to an ECMO device to support his heart and lungs. A device was also procured from the city hospital for this purpose. A good response was obtained following the connection of this ECMO. As is known, ECMO is the application of oxygenating blood outside the body in patients with poor oxygenation and returning it to the patient. A positive response was received from this.

'IT WOULD NOT BE ACCURATE TO SAY ANYTHING DEFINITIVE'

As of this morning, the response continues. We have had a good response. There was an issue regarding urine output. In relation to this, dialysis is being performed by catheterization at the bedside. Urine output was achieved in the patient during dialysis as well. These are, of course, good developments. The intensive care process is a very dynamic process. Anything can happen at any moment. His general condition is critical. All procedures are being carried out with great success in our institution. Our entire hospital team is conducting the treatment for our mayor.

We will provide information if there is a change in his condition during a press briefing tomorrow around 11:00 AM. If there is a different development in the meantime, we will inform you. His treatment is currently ongoing; it would not be accurate to say anything definitive. There may be developments; his condition is critical, but all necessary procedures are being performed successfully. Reaching this point is a very pleasing development for us. Our treatment will continue in this manner."

STATEMENT FROM THE CHP PROVINCIAL CHAIR

CHP Manisa Provincial Chair İlksen Özalper also said the following in her statement at the hospital:

"Dear friends, hello to you all again. Our esteemed Chairman is here. He has been here since this morning, since last night. We thank the chairmen of all political parties, all provincial chairs, our neighborhood heads (muhtars), and NGOs very, very much.

They were all by our side with solidarity, and they are still by our side. All the people of Manisa are here.

'WE ARE NOT THINKING OF ANYTHING NEGATIVE'

We told people to go home and rest, but no one wanted to leave. We need your prayers very much. However, Mayor Ferdi is very strong. He is very strong, and with this strength, he will get back on his feet. We will all speak in front of these microphones together again. Our faith in him is infinite. We have always believed in him, and he has never let us down. With the belief that he will not let us down from now on either, we ask for your prayers. Thank you very much. We will be together again as developments occur. Other than that, we will meet tomorrow at 11:00 AM.

I was only able to touch him yesterday. Of course, the impression is this: he is not only my fellow traveler and mayor, but also a teammate of ours.

It was nice to feel him. We know he is there. We said we are here too. We said we set out on this path together. We said we will continue to walk this path together. Everything will be fine. My impressions are that we are not thinking of anything negative. Everything will be fine."
