New statement on allegations that Provincial Police Chief was 'chewing gum'

Himmet Bozan, Iğdır Branch President of the Belediye-İş Union, made a statement regarding allegations that Iğdır Provincial Police Chief Erden Sakarya was chewing gum during his visit to workers holding a sit-in protest. 

Bozan said, "The police chief, who did not turn down the candy offered by a shopkeeper before the visit, accepted it out of courtesy and then moved to the area where the workers were. Some malicious individuals are trying to create an agenda by taking this to a different dimension. 

The gum issue is a vile slander fabricated by a few troublemakers like Ferhat Encü and the newspapers they influence. Everyone who knows our chief knows this. 

But the good side of this is that the group spreading this slander has also learned that that honorable uniform has a spiritual value too great to be worn while chewing gum".

"I WILL DO WHAT IS NECESSARY"

Regarding the allegations about Iğdır Provincial Police Chief Erden Sakarya's behavior during his visit to the protest by workers dismissed from the Iğdır Municipality, Yerlikaya stated, "I have never been a governor, nor am I a minister, who accepts such behavior while chewing gum, whether it is toward a criminal, someone with a detention warrant, or in any other matter. That is an isolated incident; I will do what is necessary."

Iğdır Police Chief Erden Sakarya, who visited the sit-in protest of workers dismissed by the DEM Party-run Iğdır Municipality, called for 'moderation' and said, "First of all, such an unjust, unlawful, and unfair action cannot take place at the beginning of the month of Muharram, during these holy days. My request to you is to maintain your rightful, legal position. To continue these demonstrations within the framework of the law. Any attack that may come from outside against you will be neutralized by security forces. I wish you patience from God. You say rights, law, and justice; in my belief, rights, law, and justice will be served as soon as possible."
