Sisters Bahar and Nihal Candan (Gülnihal Çiçek), known from the fashion competition "İşte Benim Stilim" and later as social media influencers, along with Hacı İsrafil Sağlam, were detained on November 14, 2023, on allegations of "money laundering" as part of an investigation conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

The influencer sisters were arrested and sent to prison on November 16, 2023. While the judicial process was ongoing, Nihal Candan developed anorexia and her weight dropped to 37 kilograms. After a medical report stated that her treatment could not continue in prison, Nihal Candan was hospitalized and subsequently released from prison. Spending her first day with her family, Candan went out on the second day and visited a hair salon.

"WE HAVE BEEN SITTING LIKE KINGS FOR 6 MONTHS"

Candan broke her silence after her release. Describing her experiences in prison to Kanal D Haber, Candan said, "My sister and I supported each other. We always joked, saying, 'We have been sitting like kings for 6 months.' We received psychological support frequently. It was psychologically difficult for me."

"MY GOAL WAS NEVER TO MAKE MONEY ON SOCIAL MEDIA"

Stating, "We have our mistakes, that is true," Candan added, "If I set a bad example for young children, I apologize. My goal was never to make money from social media."

Explaining what they did in prison, Candan said, "We had our books and television series. There is a canteen. We met our shopping needs from there."

"I MISSED MY FAMILY THE MOST"

"I was always with doctors during this process. It was a period where I saw more doctors than police officers," said Candan, adding the following:

"I missed my family the most. A piece of my family was with me, that was my luck. I am a bit unwell, of course. I am incredibly happy that I overcame this situation with only shortness of breath. I won't be able to go to visitations; I have anxiety. Once my sister is released as well, we won't have many problems left as a family."

"BECAUSE SEÇİL ERZAN DOES NOT WATCH THE NEWS..."

Candan, who stayed in the same ward as Seçil Erzan—who was arrested for allegedly defrauding dozens of people, including businesspeople and footballers, out of millions of dollars—said, "We were in the same ward. We didn't have any problems. Because Seçil doesn't watch the news, we didn't watch the news either."
