Nihat Özdemir reacts to customs tax on Syria: 'This decision surprised us a lot'

Following the end of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, the transitional administration established under the leadership of HTS is drawing attention with its new decisions.
It was announced that additional customs duties ranging from 300 percent to 500 percent will be applied to products imported from certain countries, including Turkey.
The decision has caused truck queues exceeding 6 kilometers at the Syrian border.
It was stated that the tax regulation does not cover Gulf countries and that imports from these countries will continue with 0 percent tax.
REACTION FROM ÖZDEMİR
Nihat Özdemir, founder of Limak Holding, known for his proximity to the government, criticized the new tax regulation.
Nihat Özdemir stated, “This decision surprised me a lot. We thought our relations with the new administration in Syria were good. However, the application of a tax at this level specifically to Turkey is incomprehensible. A tax of 27 dollars will be charged on cement that we export for 50 dollars. This will put Turkish companies in a difficult position,” he said.
