Pilar Marie Victoria Lopez, the 29-year-old Puerto Rican volleyball player who was a new transfer to Vodafone Sultan's League team Nilüfer Belediyespor, has passed away.

It was stated that club officials, who were unable to reach her, went to her home and opened the door with the help of a locksmith, only to find the athlete's lifeless body. An autopsy report is awaited regarding the cause of death.
