'No Pasaran' headline from L’Equipe

In the second round of the snap general election held in France on Sunday, the New Popular Front (NFP) emerged as the winner. According to unofficial results, the "Together for the Republic" alliance, which includes President Emmanuel Macron's Renaissance party, is projected to win 169 seats, while the fascist RN party led by Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen is estimated to hold 143 seats.

L’Equipe, referencing the New Popular Front's victory as the voters' preferred choice against Marine Le Pen, published its front page with a photo focusing on the defenders of the French National Team, who have stood out for their defense in EURO 2024, and the headline "No Pasaran".

"No Pasaran" was the slogan of those who resisted the fascist Franco regime during the Spanish Civil War, and subsequently became a slogan for the fight against fascism all over the world.

WHAT HAPPENED?
