No result in the 13th round of the Court of Cassation presidential elections!
In the 13th round of the presidential elections held due to the expiration of Court of Cassation President Mehmet Akarca's 4-year term, no candidate was able to secure an absolute majority.

The election marathon that began in the high judiciary continues.
With the election of the new President of the Constitutional Court, all eyes have turned to the Court of Cassation presidential elections.
The 4-year term of Mehmet Akarca, who was elected President of the Court of Cassation on March 24, 2020, expired as of March 24.
In this context, members of the Court of Cassation went to the polls on Monday, March 25, to determine the new president of the High Court, who will serve for 4 years.
Following the first 12 rounds of the election, in which no candidate could secure at least 175 votes—the absolute majority of the 348 Court of Cassation members—the 13th round of voting, in which 3 candidates participated, was held today.
As a result of the voting, Court of Cassation President Akarca received 103 votes, 3rd Civil Chamber President Ömer Kerkez received 104 votes, and 3rd Criminal Chamber President Muhsin Şentürk received 113 votes. While participation in the election was recorded as 332, 12 of the votes were deemed invalid.
Due to the failure to reach an absolute majority, the election will continue tomorrow with the 14th round of voting. Kerkez and Şentürk will be eligible to participate in the 14th round of voting to be held tomorrow.
An absolute majority of the total number of members is required to be present in the elections.
