"I congratulate Maria Corina Machado, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, with my most sincere feelings. This honorable success of those fighting for democracy and freedom in Venezuela is inspiring not only for Latin America but for all peoples living in the shadow of authoritarian regimes.
In a world where dictatorships, oppression, and lawlessness prevail, brave leaders who defend the will of the people are a source of hope for the common future of humanity. Today, the struggle of Maria Corina Machado, crowned with this award, is the guarantee of tomorrow's free and democratic societies.
We in Turkey are also continuing the struggle for justice, freedom, and democracy with the same belief and determination. This award is a message of courage and solidarity given to those who believe in democracy in every geography."
