Notable 40-minute meeting between AKP and MHP: Ahead of the Imrali vote
MHP Group Deputy Chairman Erkan Akçay and Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Feti Yıldız met with AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler and Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala.

The meeting, which took place in Güler's office at the Parliament, lasted approximately 40 minutes and was closed to the press.
Responding to journalists' questions after the meeting, Yıldız stated that the meeting was unrelated to the meeting the National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission will hold tomorrow or the "Imrali visit."
Yıldız said, "It is not about tomorrow's meeting; it is a legal matter. We exchanged ideas."
"SIMPLE MAJORITY IS SUFFICIENT"
When asked, "What majority will be required for the decision to be taken at tomorrow's Commission meeting?" Yıldız replied, "Since this is not a legislative proposal, a simple majority is sufficient here."
Feti Yıldız: ABSOLUTE MAJORITY IS REQUIRED
Before the meeting, Yıldız had also made the following post on his X account:
"There is a need to correct an erroneous narrative in the media. The statement that a 3/5 majority of commission members is required to visit Imrali Island is incorrect. Since there is no legislative proposal here, an absolute majority is required."

Name of the Commission
ARTICLE 1- (1) The name of the commission is the “National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission”.
Purpose and duty of the commission
ARTICLE 2- (1) The purpose of the commission is to remove terrorism from Turkey’s agenda entirely, strengthen social integration, consolidate our national unity and brotherhood, and conduct work in the fields of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.
(2) The duty of the commission is to identify the necessary legal regulations in line with the purpose stated in the first paragraph, conduct work on draft legislative proposals, and ensure the public is informed about the commission’s activities.
Meeting and decision quorum
ARTICLE 6- (1) The quorum for the commission's meetings is an absolute majority of the total number of members. Decisions regarding the preparation of legislative proposals are taken by a three-fifths majority of the total number of members.
In other matters, the decision-making quorum is an absolute majority of those attending the meeting."
