Numan Kurtulmuş evaluates the Abdullah Öcalan slogans chanted in Parliament: I am speaking clearly

Stating that the process of a Turkey without terrorism is an important gain for the country, Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş said, "Let me say this. Those who fear the iron should not board the train. Of course, the words spoken here by everyone will shape not only their present but their entire future." Regarding a potential visit to İmralı by the commission, Kurtulmuş stated, "Such a step could be taken for the completion of the process."

Stating that the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, which held its 16th meeting in Parliament, has undertaken an important and historic mission in Turkey, Kurtulmuş said, "As of today, it has completed its 16th meeting and performed an important function. From now on, it is approaching the final point." Kurtulmuş noted the following: "I can say this very comfortably. Despite having very different opinions, none of those who came and participated here, or expressed their views in the commission, stated that they do not want this process or that this process should not happen. Everyone enthusiastically put forward important ideas to ensure this issue is resolved as soon as possible."

"SUCH A STEP COULD BE TAKEN"

Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş said regarding the commission's visit to İmralı, which has been discussed in recent days, "Such a step could be taken for the completion of the process." Stating that the commission is the one that will make the decision, Kurtulmuş said, "My personal opinion is not important here. Various political parties have expressed and are expressing their positive views on this matter. They are also doing so in the public eye. If the commission makes such a decision, it will be acted upon accordingly."

"We postponed the meeting we were going to hold this Thursday for purely technical reasons. We did not hold the meeting because one of our minister friends will be abroad. Next week, we will listen to our Minister of Interior, our Minister of National Defense, and our Head of the National Intelligence Organization. I see that this is the final round of hearings. If there is any additional new information, the commission will be informed again later. Therefore, this postponement was made for purely technical reasons."

"Hopefully, this Thursday, our Minister of Interior, our Minister of National Defense, and our Head of the National Intelligence Organization will come and explain what has happened and what steps have been taken since the presentation they made at the very beginning."

"IT IS NOT A PEACE PROCESS"

Stating that the process is related to the terrorist organization laying down its arms, Kurtulmuş said, "This process in Turkey is actually not a peace process between Turks and Kurds, but rather a process that the parliament is monitoring carefully, which began with the terrorist organization that has been fighting against the state announcing that it is laying down its arms. Therefore, I would like to underline that everyone here has emphasized Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood and the unity and solidarity among the people living in this country; this was an extraordinarily important issue."

"THERE IS NO BARGAINING"

Noting that there is no bargaining involved in the process, Numan Kurtulmuş said, "There is no bargaining between the organization and the state in any way, nor has there been until today. We already know from the statements made to the public that the organization has not come forward with maximalist demands. For example, we know that demands such as a federation, the establishment of certain privileges, or the demand for another language to be an official language alongside Turkish have not been brought to the agenda. We are not yet at the point of saying that the steps have been completed, but especially with the October 26 statement, that is, the statement that no terrorist activities will be carried out within Turkey's borders, the issue has reached a new phase, a new stage."

"THOSE WHO FEAR THE IRON SHOULD NOT BOARD THE TRAIN"

Noting that the process of a Turkey without terrorism is an important gain for the country, Kurtulmuş also issued some warnings: "Let me say this. Those who fear the iron should not board the train. This is Turkey's most difficult issue. Of course, the words spoken by everyone here will shape not only their own present but their entire future. For the first time, politics is standing on common ground regarding a solution, even if their wings may differ, and this is extraordinarily valuable. We know very well that during those past attempts at a solution, politics turned this into a field for political maneuvering from the very beginning. Therefore, one must see these things."

LEGAL REGULATIONS

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said that legal regulations regarding the process could be carried out after various criteria are met. Kurtulmuş continued his words as follows: "Now, the detection and registration that the organization has truly laid down its arms and liquidated itself is the most critical point of the next stage. In other words, we as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey are not in a position to do this. After our national security institutions, primarily the National Intelligence Organization and the elements of the Ministry of National Defense, make this determination by saying, 'Yes, the organization has dissolved itself, and serious disarmament has been achieved on the ground,' it will be possible for the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to carry out the legal regulations required by the issue."

"IF THE MGK DECLARES IT, A SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE WILL BE COVERED"

Stating that the findings of the National Security Council (MGK) regarding the PKK laying down arms are important, Kurtulmuş said, "As Turkey's highest security board, if this issue is addressed in the National Security Council and if the National Security Council makes these findings and announces them, a very significant distance will have been covered."

"THOSE SLOGANS ARE A PROVOCATION"

Regarding the Abdullah Öcalan slogans chanted in Parliament, Numan Kurtulmuş stated, "The chanting of those slogans in Parliament, and the manifestation of actions in Diyarbakır and other places that truly disturb the vast majority of the nation, is, I say it clearly, a provocation."

"IT WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF FETÖ MEMBERS"

When asked about the difference between the "solution process" and the "terror-free Turkey" process, Kurtulmuş replied, "As someone who remembers and knows almost every day of the previous process, let me say this: There are very major differences. First and foremost, I express with regret that almost all of the institutions conducting this process on behalf of the state during that period were under the management of FETÖ members, under their influence."
