Number of arrests in Atlas murder case increases
Another suspect has been arrested for allegedly threatening the family of 17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan, who was stabbed to death in Güngören, Istanbul. With this latest arrest, the number of individuals sent to prison in the case has risen to five.

In the investigation into allegations of threats against the family of Atlas Çağlayan, who lost his life in Güngören, one more person has been arrested. Following the latest detention, the suspect was arrested by the court, bringing the total number of detainees in the case to 5. It was learned that one of the previously arrested individuals is a minor.
ATLAS' DEATH ON TURKEY'S AGENDA
17-year-old Atlas Çağlayan was stabbed by 15-year-old E.Ç. on the evening of January 14 following an argument in front of a cafe in the Mehmet Nesih Özmen neighborhood. Seriously injured in the incident, Atlas was taken to Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital by ambulance but passed away despite all interventions.
While it was alleged that the argument broke out due to "looking the wrong way," it was reported that E.Ç. had no prior criminal record and did not know Atlas. The detained suspect was arrested by the duty magistrate and sent to prison.

Footage of the incident was shared on social media. In the footage, the crowd gathered around Atlas lying on the ground and the panic and cries of his relatives drew attention.
MOTHER REACTS TO LAWYER'S DEFENSE
Atlas' mother, Gülhan Ünlü, reacted to the defense by the lawyer of the arrested E.Ç., who claimed that "he only wanted to scare him." In her statement, Ünlü expressed the following:
"If he had wanted to scare him, he wouldn't have wound up and struck with that knife. How can you scare someone by stabbing them in the chest? I do not accept any of these claims."
