Number of buildings damaged in Balıkesir earthquake announced

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that, according to initial assessments following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake centered in Sındırgı, Balıkesir, 1 building has collapsed, 13 structures are heavily damaged, and 61 structures have minor damage.

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum shared a post on his social media account following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake centered in Sındırgı, Balıkesir. Kurum offered his condolences for the citizen who lost their life and stated that damage assessment efforts are ongoing.

Minister Kurum shared the following data regarding the current situation:

"Following the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Sındırgı, Balıkesir, we began our damage assessment work yesterday. As a result of the reports received so far, our teams have identified 1 collapsed, 13 heavily damaged, and 61 slightly damaged structures. We will complete our work as quickly as possible and do whatever is necessary for our city and our nation.

As in previous disasters, we will stand by our citizens here as well. I convey my best wishes to all our fellow citizens affected by the earthquake. I pray for God's mercy upon our citizen who lost their life, and I wish patience to their family and loved ones. May God protect our country and our nation from all kinds of disasters."
