In Istanbul's Beşiktaş district, tense moments occurred on the morning of April 7 following an armed attack against police in front of the plaza housing the Israeli Consulate.
During the clash that broke out between security forces and the attackers, one of the attackers was killed, and two suspects were captured wounded. The wounded attackers were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two police officers also sustained minor injuries during the exchange of fire.
Following the attack, security forces launched a large-scale operation as part of the investigation. A total of 10 people were detained during operations conducted on the day of the incident and subsequently.
Teams obtaining new information as part of the investigation apprehended one of the suspects in İzmit, another in Konya, and another in Kocaeli. With the new operations carried out today, resulting in the capture of two more suspects, one of whom was again in Kocaeli, a total of 14 people have now been detained.
